The First Few Flakes
Before long we’ll be making snow angels in the front yard. The sparkles of the flakes catching glimpses of the sun will be worth the temperatures, frost and icy sidewalks.
I’ll watch in wait for this season to begin.
In Social Media & On Your Radio

I’ve gone back to school every year since 1986 when I first stepped on the bus to go to Kindergarten at Custer Elementary School in my plaid dress. That’s it in the picture at the right.
I continue to go to school as I work at a radio station located on the campus of a university. I work with students every day. Sometimes I’m not sure I should say I’m going to work or school. None the less, I live in the world of learning.
This year, for the first time, I teach on my own. I have a small undergraduate class I’m guiding through the world of audio production. It’s a whole new thing, teaching. I’m learning about what it means to directly impact people. To directly have an influence and responsibility for what they are learning. I recently saw the PBS Documentary called “First Year“. It gave insight into an elementary experience that I can apply this year for my college students. I’m learning more and more about the difference between spewing information and giving them a desire to want to know more. It almost feels more like mentorship. I want to be a better leader. That’s my goal this year.
Social Exchange Theory for Groups
This is going to be a surprise to you, but I’m just now learning how to read.
I’ve always enjoyed writing. Letters, pen pals, doodles and anything with a pen or crayon or marker. Now, I’m finding that leadership comes best from those who invest in continuing their own knowledge. A wise person I work with reminded me of this, and I’m finding that reading really can be enjoyable. It’s mostly about taking the step to learn from others and dig deep into subjects you’re passionate about.
I love the internet and social media. I just realized that I’m a part of these social media sites, but haven’t created anything of interest on my own, so now I begin. This venture involves some of my audio, perhaps video and a love for the community I’ve found myself a part of… and love.
I’m working on my Masters Degree in Communication through Spring Arbor University’s Online MCOM program. This presentation is a Critical Book Review Assignment for my class on technology as it relates to faith. First, you can read my paper here. Then, take a minute to enjoy my Prezi Presentation.
